Want to travel but don't have the budget to do so?

Joanna, our Founder, has some tips on how to make travel budget-friendly.

Traveling without breaking the bank is something that many people aspire to do. It can seem daunting, but with a bit of creativity, planning, and flexibility, it is possible to enjoy a luxurious trip without going over budget

Top 10 tips for traveling on a budget.

1. Book flights in advance – Booking flights in advance can help you get the best deals. Be flexible with both airline and dates to score bigger discounts.

2. Travel during the shoulder season – Prices tend to be much lower than high season but also weather is on your side.

3. Take advantage of discounts – Sign up for loyalty programs and use them when possible. Every little bit helps. Free hotel night here and discounts on entrance tickets there will make a difference.

4. Eat at local markets – Eating at local markets is a great way to both try all the local foods and save money. Plus, who doesn’t want to eat like a local!

5. Look for free activities – Many tourist attractions offer free admission or discounted rates with tours. Do your research! Also, note some things are free!

6. Use public transportation (of course, only if it's safe) – When you are traveling to a new place, opt for public transportation instead of taxis or rental cars. Sure some places are more remote and you will need a car but definitely when possible use trains and buses.

7. Couchsurfing – If you're going to a destination where you have family or friends, always ask if they can accommodate you at their place or maybe even swap places with them . It’s a win, win!

9. Take advantage of your credit cards! Get free global entry & TSA precheck. Use points for flights or stays . Plus, it gets you access to airport lounges, hello savings!! Have you looked at the price of a coffee or sandwich at the airport these days. Big savings when you eat for free.

10. Travel with friends – Traveling with friends can help you split the costs of accommodation, transportation, and other expenses.

Extra: Take out money at ATM machines once you arrive at your destination. Those exchange counters give you terrible exchange rates and carrying a bunch of cash isn’t super safe.

Ps. Coffee at local shops are always cheaper than walking into a Starbucks overseas. This goes for almost anything including fast food joints. Stay away.
